wedding craft for absent loved ones – trees and hearts

I got married in Japan but my friends and family live all around the world, so many of them couldn’t come to this ceremony. We made this quilt to include them. They made trees from fabric that we sewed together.

Trees came from California, New York, Berlin, the UK, Delhi, Korea and Japan.

The spaces between the trees make hearts.

Last minute, late comer tree sew-in.

We started back when it was cold. Here drying painted ones on the stove with Aibom.

These are the first ones that arrived at my house. It was very exciting and touching to receive the packages in the mail.
